Tamar Valley

Notley Fern Gorge

From Tamar Island Wetlands,  we head a couple of kilometres further north along the West Tamar Highway to Legana.  There is a turn to the left to a small farming community of Bridgenorth.  Several kilometres on is the very pretty Notley Fern Gorge.

Magnificent Tree Ferns in Notley Fern Gorge.  A must see while visiting the Tamar Valley.    The gorge is also accessible from Exeter along the Frankford highway.   Just a short 3/4  hour walk from the car park.  A well constructed path descends into the gorge, follows a creek and loops back up to the car park.  It is a fairly strenuous walk back out of the gorge.  There is a short side trip to 'Brady's Tree' where the bushranger reputedly visited.  A picnic area is at the car park along with relatively clean rest rooms.
