Well worth the hour or so drive from Burnie.  2 1/2 hours from Launceston.  There are plenty of attractions nearby for an overnight stay or more.

The gem of the Far North West Coast.  These beautiful gardens are just a 15 or 20 minutes drive south of the town of Smithton - about an hours drive west of Burnie.  The gardens are open from 1st of October until April 30th from 10AM until 6PM and until near dusk during the summer.  They have been planted for flowers to bloom throughout the months the gardens are open.

An added attraction is an impressive tract of rainforest immediately adjacent to the gardens.  There is an easy half hour walk.   Devonshire Teas are available throughout the day.  The gardens are also popular for weddings.  Peacocks roam the grounds and are a spectacle from October to December.
