Fun day of home made rafting down the Ringarooma River.

 

The largest community event of the year in the region is now in its 30th consecutive year. The Derby River Derby has built its success on offering an authentic family fun day, with an extreme sport twist.

 

 

The new Tin Centre at Derby.  A multimedia presentation is shown daily depicting the rich mining era and Chinese heritage of the area of the past.  - about 45 minutes

The imaged above were part of the old "Shanty Town" museum.  They were demolished in 2007 to make way for the Tin Centre.  A few buildings still remain.

The recently de-comissioned Morinna private power station.  The power station was built to provide power to the mines in the area.

  There is no public access to the facility.  A good but narrow gravel road  between the Morinna golf course and Pioneer passes by the power station.
