SCOTTSDALE

Just a short drive from Launceston is the rich fertile farming community of Scottsdale.  There are three roads into the area from the north - via the Tasman Highway over the scenic 'Sideling', via Lilydale or from Bell Bay through the wine producing area and seaside resort Bridport.

Just on the Southern edge of Scottsdale on the Sideling road is the recently opened Forest Eco Centre.  The building has been designed to be energy efficient.  It houses Forestry Tasmania's offices and a Visitor Information Centre.  There is also a cafe.

Scottsdale is a thriving community with farming, timber and hops being the major industries in the area.

Scottsdale hosts a very fine 9 hole golf course.  There is a good well sheltered camping ground about a kilometre from the town centre.  There are some very fine restaurant and accommodation options.
