If the mountains are called the Walls of
Jerusalem then the valleys between could be called the Garden of Eden. The
whole walk is simply a mosaic of colour. The first hour of the walk is a
strenuous up hill climb through eucalyptus forest. The forest provides
welcome shade for the climb to the hut. Ten minutes past the old
loggers hut the top two scenes come into view. For the next hour, the
track passes through numerous beautiful lakes or tarns known as Solomon's
Jewels.
Late afternoon sun on Clumber Bluff which can be
seen from Herod's Gate. About
30 minutes from the start of the track.
