Pelverata Falls

D'Entrecasteaux Channel

Access to Pelverata Falls is near the township of Pelverata.  The route is well signposted at Pelvarata.  From Hobart, take the Southern Outlet past Kingston. Turn left at Sandfly and right immediately to Pelverata.  The sign at the start of the falls suggests 3 hours for the walk.  I was able to do it easily in a little over two return.  There is no water available on the walk.  There is an excellent picnic shelter at Pelverata - free electric BBQ.  Check the water level in the river at Pelverata.  Being a small catchment the falls are often dry.

The track is steadily uphill and easy most of the way.  The last 10 minutes has some awkward rocks to negotiate. Children must be supervised here.

Turn left just before the bridge to access the falls.

Pelverata Falls on the left.  The cascades shown on the right come in to view before the Pelverata Falls which are only a few hundred metres to the left on another river.  After rain the cascades are visible from the Sandfly to Pelverata road at Kaoota.  The image in the centre was taken from the falls looking down the valley.  The car park is just beyond the paddock in the centre of the picture.
