MT WELLINGTON

Hobart

Most visitors to Hobart head off to the summit of Mount Wellington. There is a very good sealed road to the top.

Along the way there are several very short stops and walks which are well worth a visit.

The pictures on the right link to the respective walks.

There are numerous longer wilderness walks in and around the mountain and the adjacent mountains.

Mount Wellington is particularly suited to mountain bike riding. There are numerous tracks shared with walkers which run along the contours of the slopes. The tracks are very well signposted. One tour company offers bike hire from the pinnacle of the mountain to Hobart city.

Public transport to Fern Tree is available.  During the 2002/03 season there was a bus service specifically for the carriage of push bikes.
