LAKE RODWAY TRACK

Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park

Artist's Pool in summer.  About an hour and a half walk from the Dove Lake car park.

Be warned.  The climb up Hanson's Peak has a very steep and relatively difficult section.  However it is fairly short.  15 or 20 minutes.  There is an alternative route via Twisted Lakes.  A fairly steep climb is also encountered.  The walk back to Hanson's Peak from the southern side is a little easier.  The view is well worth the climb.

Scott-Kilvert memorial hut - public shelter.  The hut includes a pot belly stove but no bedding.  There is a bush toilet nearby.  Again be warned.  The hut was built in memory of two young students who perished here in adverse weather conditions.  Be prepared for any conditions.

The Lake Rodway  walk commences at the Dove Lake car park.   The track steadily inclines from the start and it becomes apparent why the walk is regarded as one of the prettiest in Australia - particularly in Autumn with the deciduous beech adding its rustic tones to the landscape.
