Lady Lake

The Great Western Tiers

THE LADY OF THE TIERS

Lady Lake with Mother Cummings Peak in the distance.

Lady Lake is an elegant lake a little more than 100 metres long.  It sits just near the edge of the Great Western Tiers above the small community of Western Creek, a short drive south west of Deloraine.  The lake is a 10 minute walk from Higgs Track.  The track has  historical significance.  It was the original access to the Central Plateau by the early European settlers.  Just near Western Creek the road from Needles (on the Mole Creek road) or the Meander road a T junction is encountered.  Western Creek is a few hundred metres to the left.

Westrope Road is a few hundred metres to the right.  A sign directs drivers to the "Big Tree" which is near Higgs Track.  From here the way is well signposted.  Watch for the sign a little over 4 kilometres up Westrope Road.

A short distance from the Westrope Road Car Park is Dale Creek. A very picturesque forest walk to the top of the Tiers.  Click the image for a desktop size view.

NOTE: This log crossing was washed away by the floods of 14th January 2011. The creek is usually easy to cross.
