NEWDEGATE CAVE AND THERMAL POOL

Thermal Pool adjacent to the Hastings Caves visitors centre.  Year round swimming.  We arrived on a mild spring day.  Refreshments are provided at the newly completed visitors centre.  There is a short walk to the thermal streams nearby as well as a longer one to the Lune River.  there is a light railway a few kilometres away at Ida Bay as well as several impressive wilderness walks in the area.

The Newdegate Cave is just a couple of kilometres from the visitors centre and pool.

It is one of only two dolomite caves open to the public in Australia.

A superb lighting system was installed in the cave system a few years ago.

Well worth the trip south just to visit the cave.
