The Tasman Peninsula

COAL MINES

On the north western corner of the Tasman Peninsula are the historic Coal Mine ruins where convicts were forced to work the mines.  The last time we were here the solitary confinement cells were being developed.  Visitors are now able to enter the dozen or so cells.

A few kilometres further along there is a basic camping ground at Lime Bay.  There is a walk from Lime Bay to Lagoon Beach.

There are toilet facilities at the Coal Mine site as well as Lime Bay.  Although 'pit' toilets, they are modern and very clean.
